Two Years In the STG

It's hard to believe that we've been in Saint George two years tomorrow. Well, technically, we moved here on January 13th (lucky number 13) but I absolutely do not count the two weeks that I spent in a motel room as part of our lives here! I'm sure that our parents (who helped us move down) are glad that we decided to stay awhile considering the things that they went through to get us here! LONG STORY(and it just kept getting longer, huh honey.)! All the stumbling stones along the way are, I'm sure, what made the actual date so memorable! It is just a beautiful place to live and I feel blessed to be here! We have been priviledged to meet some awesome people since we've been here, we have an awesome ward and it's just been good all around. So, I think we should celebrate...and go to Chili's(LOL...see previous post).

A Few Thoughts...

First thought...
So I just got done reading an article on Yahoo....the 20 worst foods in America. It was very enlightening...and depressing! I love Chili's and there were quite a few items from their menu on the list! I hate it when that happens! We haven't been there for months, but next time we go, I will definitely have to pay more attention to what I'm eating! Sheesh!
Next thought...
I received a phone call late last night from the elders in our stake that are assigned to the Spanish-speaking branch. They wanted to know if I was available to go visit an investigator that attends the Spanish-speaking ward, but lives in my ward boundaries. She has a daughter that is 12 and I am the Beehive leader, so I guess that is why the ward mission leader gave my name to the elders. I was definitely hesitant, since I have not been present for any kind of missionary discussion in a long time...however, I called the nice elder back and told him I would be there. I had the day off work, so I figured, why not. When I met the elders, I was nervous, but it was completely awesome. These guys were speaking Spanish like they had grown up speaking it (I learned later that they had not) and despite not being able to understand a thing that was going on (I did however figure out they were talkng about baptism and the Waters of Mormon) I was totally loving it! All I could think about was Brian in the Phillipines teaching people in a different language and seeing the light of the gospel in their eyes. It sounds silly, but there was seriously something in this woman's face that just lit up the room. I didn't meet the daughter that is 12 (she was too shy to come downstairs) but now that I know her mom it will be so much easier to just stop by and say hi to that young woman. Thanks to the elders! I hope they call me back to go again (even though I require a translator of my own).
Last thought...
I think it must be the cold weather, but I am totally in a casserole mood. I just love something warm and yummy, so if you have a great recipe, let me know!

Merry Christmas!

Brian is moving into his own apartment in Orem to go to UVU this semester, so his pile basically looked like a bridal shower.

Max guarding the guitar

We had so much fun with my family this Christmas! On Christmas morning, we opened all our gifts and then started cleaning up. Then...Surprise! Guitar Hero for the Wii! The boys were so excited and we played pretty much the whole time they were here. I had so much fun! We are headed up to Tooele this weekend, and I do plan on getting a few songs in while we're there! LOL

Reasons to Live in St. George

There are many great reasons to live in beautiful Saint George, Utah. This, however, is not one of the reasons on my list.

Practicing

So, not to take away from the beauty of the quilts. And, not that I'm becoming a crazy cat lady who posts only things about the small animals in her life....but....I was attempting to practice for our Christmas program in Sacrament Meeting next week when suddenly I had a visitor...

Christmas Quilts

This one's mine.

Daniela took so much time piecing Ryan's quilt together. It will definitely be getting good use. Ryan is wrapped up in it right now! haha

Ryan's mom came down to visit for "Christmas" this weekend. Since we're staying home for the holidays this year, she came to us! It was so much fun. We spent all day Saturday just enjoying each other's company and eating way too much! When we got back to the house after lunch, we exchanged gifts and we were so surprised! She had made us each a quilt(I didn't even know she made quilts until we visited this summer and she had some quilt tops laying out!)! How amazing are they?! She is so talented and we are so grateful(and warm!). Anyone who knows me knows that there can never be enough layers to keep me completely warm in the cold weather!

G & G Boehmer Go to Nauvoo!

I'm so excited for my grandparents! They are going to Nauvoo on a mission for 18 months. I've been a few times and it's wonderful. It is going to be so awesome to go visit them....hopefully we can do that this summer. This is their second mission, and all I can say is that they are extremely hearty people. They live in Canada(COLD!), their last mission was to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada (COLD!!!) and now they're headed to another chilly winter spot! They're so awesome and brave and I look up to them so much!
